For a more traditional Chinese cultural experience, a visit to the rather misleadingly named Yuen Yuen Institute promises to provide an enjoyable surprise. The Institute was founded in 1950 and occupies spacious grounds in the tranquil, beautiful environment of Sam Dip Tam.

The Institute is a collection of temples, pavilions, monasteries and prayer halls dedicated to Confucian, Buddhist and Taoist beliefs, and its sprawling grounds are dotted with decorative gardens and ponds. The Institute's purpose is to spread the principles of these three religions, to uphold the eight virtues (i.e. filial piety, respect, loyalty, fidelity, propriety, justice, honesty and honour) and to promote social welfare.

One of its many attractions includes a replica of Beijing's magnificent Temple of Heaven (Tian Tan). The Hall of Rocks Collection features rocks with interesting natural shapes, including those of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac. Open to the public from 9am - 6pm daily.

Every spring, the Yuen Yuen Institute presents the Gardening Show.

MTR Tsuen Wan Station Exit B1 and walk for 5 mins to Shiu Wo Street and take green minibus 81 to Yuen Yuen Institute.

要進一步體驗中國傳統文化，可遊覽圓玄學院。圓玄學院始建於1950年，佔地數十畝，坐落於荃灣三疊潭，群山拱衛，深潭聚秀，盡得山川的靈氣。


圓玄學院為宗教聖地，兼容儒、佛、道三教。院內建有廟宇殿堂、亭台樓閣、齋堂經室、池塘等。圓玄學院不但宣揚儒、佛、道三教的信義，更發揚孝義、尊師重道、忠心、忠誠、遵守禮節、公義、誠信和廉恥這八項美德，並致力推廣社會服務。


在圓玄學院，善信可以參神祈福，遊人則可瀏覽風光或到展覽場館參觀。院內主要景點包含三教大殿、元辰殿、雅石館、觀音池、孔子銅像及龍華樓等；其中一座仿製的北京天壇更是別具特色，而雅石館內更展示了妙趣橫生的天然岩石，當中的中國十二生肖小岩石造型維肖維妙。圓玄學院開放時間為每日上午9時至下午6時。


遊人更可到優雅寧靜的齋堂一嘗清淡可口的素食。每年春天，圓玄學院舉辦園藝展。
